Technical Support Engineer

About the role

As a Technical Support Engineer you will join the Academic Team at ECU Sri Lanka, supporting laboratory and classroom equipment to enable high‑quality teaching and research.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate preparation, organisation and distribution of equipment and materials to laboratories and classes.
• Set up, pre‑run, service and dismantle experiments, maintaining accurate records of laboratory requirements.
• Advise academic staff on equipment demonstration and assist with experimental design.
• Lead risk assessments for teaching and research activities and approve new equipment designs, manufacture and modifications.
• Maintain up‑to‑date equipment manuals, assets register, loan processes and consumables stock levels.
• Develop and manage relationships with engineering organisations and suppliers, establishing service agreements through cost analysis.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, health & safety legislation and equity standards.
• Support planning and delivery of special events such as workshops, open days and community engagement activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor‑level qualification, preferably in Electrical or Mechatronics engineering.
• Relevant experience providing laboratory technical support in a technical environment.
• Strong customer focus, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
• Experience in a multicultural workplace.
