Technical Lead - Microsoft Power BI

About the role

As a Technical Lead for Microsoft Power BI at HCLTech, you will drive the design and delivery of advanced Business Intelligence solutions. You will work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into high‑impact visual analytics that support strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor technical teams in creating, testing, and deploying interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Collaborate with business users, SMEs, and analysts to gather requirements and design effective visual solutions.
• Develop and maintain SQL databases, queries, and ETL processes to ensure reliable data feeding into Power BI.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of BI solutions through best‑practice data modeling and Power Query tuning.
• Stay current with Power BI, SQL, and analytics trends to continuously improve existing processes.
• Provide technical expertise, troubleshoot implementation issues, and support ad‑hoc reporting needs.
• Design and enforce security and access controls for reports and datasets.
• Document design specifications, implementation steps, and operational procedures.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of experience developing Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and deliver end‑to‑end BI solutions.
• Strong background in MS SQL, query optimization, and relational database concepts.
• Experience with DAX, Power Query, and building complex metrics.
• Hands‑on experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms.
• Demonstrated skills in data validation, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
