Technical Lead - AI

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Lead – AI to drive AI innovation and engineering across WSO2’s product portfolio. Reporting to the Vice President of AI, you will work hands‑on with product and engineering teams to design, prototype and deliver AI capabilities into production‑grade solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify AI opportunities across the product suite and shape new agentic capabilities.
• Design, prototype and ship AI features using modern agentic patterns, RAG, multi‑agent systems, evaluation and observability.
• Define architectures, patterns and engineering practices for scalable, secure AI systems.
• Lead technical direction for AI governance, security, safety, guardrails and responsible AI.
• Evaluate emerging models, frameworks and protocols, rapidly experimenting for product fit.
• Contribute to the broader agentic AI ecosystem through open‑source projects and standards bodies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of software engineering or AI experience.
• Proven ability to lead small technical teams and collaborate across product groups.

Required skills

• Strong hands‑on experience with large language models (LLMs) and generative/agentic AI.
• Experience building AI gateways, agent management, identity, governance, security and observability.
• Proficiency with modern AI development frameworks and model APIs.
• Solid software engineering, system design and architecture expertise.
• Understanding of distributed systems, APIs and cloud‑native architectures.
