Tax Executive – Indirect Taxation

About the role

The Tax Executive – Indirect Taxation is responsible for managing all activities related to Value Added Tax (VAT) in Sri Lanka. You will work closely with export, manufacturing, and finance teams to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and timely submissions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly VAT Schedule 6 in coordination with the Export Department for VAT return submission.
• Gather employee meal and transport cost data from manufacturing plants, prepare VAT liability reports, and post related journal entries.
• Support IRD audits by providing documentation and amending VAT returns when required.
• Maintain and reconcile the monthly input tax file with the VAT recoverable account.
• Clear input invoices in SAP and compile VAT Schedule 2 for submission.
• Reconcile import customs reports with BOI reports and prepare Schedule 3 for IRD.
• Conduct export remittance reconciliations, calculate provisions for disallowed VAT, and compile bank statements for audit purposes.
• Monitor input VAT recoverable accounts daily, resolve invoice issues, and ensure accurate GL postings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of experience in tax compliance or general accounting.
• Professional qualification such as CA (SL), CIMA (UK) or ACCA (UK) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan tax procedures and ERP systems.
