Sustainability & ESG Associate – Finance Department

About the role

Join Seylan's Finance Department as a Sustainability & ESG Associate, where you will support the bank’s sustainability agenda and regulatory reporting. This entry‑level position offers the chance to develop expertise in ESG data management, climate‑related risk assessment, and green finance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Support annual sustainability, climate, and regulatory reporting, including data collection, validation and analysis.
• Assist implementation of SLFRS S1 and S2 reporting architecture, covering sustainability risks, metrics and documentation.
• Conduct GHG accounting and carbon‑footprint measurement for operational and value‑chain emissions, and track financed emissions.
• Help implement the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) across lending, including screening, due diligence and compliance monitoring.
• Identify green, climate, transition and sustainable finance opportunities using Sri Lanka Green Finance Taxonomy and related frameworks.
• Coordinate sustainability KPIs, dashboards and regulatory submissions, ensuring data integrity and timely reporting.
• Support policy development, board papers, research, disclosures and presentations.
• Assist community impact initiatives, stakeholder engagement and sustainability events, tracking outcomes.
• Monitor emerging ESG and sustainable finance trends and translate them into practical insights for the bank.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, environmental management, climate change or sustainable finance.
• Partial or full Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Social Sciences, Management, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Sound knowledge of sustainability reporting, GHG accounting, green finance and relevant frameworks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proactive, organized and able to work across departments to meet deadlines.
