Staff Accountant

About the role

Visual Studios Plus is seeking a full‑time Staff Accountant to join its Colombo office. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and providing key financial insights that support the agency’s creative and performance‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
• Reconcile bank statements and perform regular account reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Prepare periodic financial reports for internal stakeholders.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cost analysis.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close activities.
• Monitor expenses and ensure compliance with accounting standards and local regulations.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver financial insights for decision‑making.
• Support external audits and contribute to improvements in financial systems and processes.

Required profile

• Strong core accounting skills, including general ledger management, AP/AR, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and interpreting financial data.
• Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational ability and capacity to meet multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross‑functional teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional certifications (ACCA, CIMA, CA) are a plus.
• Prior experience in a similar accounting role, preferably within an agency or service‑oriented business.
• Demonstrated integrity, discretion with confidential information and a commitment to accuracy and regulatory compliance.
