Special Education Teacher – Kandy

About the role

The Special Education Teacher will work on‑site at Green Angels International School in Kandy, providing tailored instruction for students with diverse learning needs. This full‑time position involves designing and delivering individualized education programs (IEPs) and fostering an inclusive classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and implement IEPs for students with special educational needs.
• Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to suit individual abilities and learning styles.
• Provide targeted interventions, small‑group and one‑on‑one instruction.
• Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with general‑education teachers, counselors, and families to ensure holistic support.
• Manage classroom behavior positively and promote student independence.

Required profile

• Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree in Special Education, Child Development, Psychology or a related field.
• Previous experience working with children with special educational needs (advantageous).
• Strong command of English and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to identify and support individual learning and developmental needs.
• Knowledge of individualized learning/support plans and appropriate teaching strategies.
• Patient, caring, responsible and child‑focused approach.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with parents, teachers and school management.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Willingness to work onsite in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
