Senior Lead Engineer - IBM i

About the role

The Senior Lead Engineer will oversee the administration, performance monitoring, and optimisation of IBM i systems, ensuring high availability and resilience. The role also drives AI adoption and modernises data‑centre operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee administration, performance monitoring and optimisation of IBM i systems.
• Drive adoption of AI technologies and stay current with LLM and AIOps trends.
• Perform first‑level troubleshooting, escalation and end‑to‑end incident follow‑up.
• Participate in system upgrades, migrations and primary/DR site switchovers.
• Manage vulnerability assessments, remediation tracking and enforce IBM i security hardening.
• Ensure operations comply with regulatory requirements, industry best practices and internal policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology or related field from a UGC‑approved university.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data‑centre operations.
• Proficiency with AIOps tools and platforms.
• Experience in IBM i (AS/400) administration/operation (advantageous).
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with attention to detail.
