Senior DevOps Engineer – UK Operational Hours

About the role

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Sri Lanka tech hub supporting NEXT’s global retail operations. The role focuses on building and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines, automating cloud environments, and ensuring secure, high‑performance deployments aligned with UK operational hours.

Key responsibilities

• Automate creation and deployment of Development, Test, Pre‑Production and Production environments using Infrastructure‑as‑Code.
• Create and modify infrastructure code for IaaS, SaaS and PaaS resources, primarily on Microsoft Azure.
• Design, manage and optimise CI/CD pipelines (YAML) and integrate automated testing.
• Maintain consistent test environments and enforce branching strategies in Git.
• Develop data refresh scripts while ensuring sensitive data is anonymised.
• Use monitoring tools for application, server and service diagnostics.
• Assist development teams with performance and volume testing.
• Set up and manage NuGet/npm repositories and web servers (IIS, Node.js).
• Identify and automate departmental processes to improve efficiency.
• Document high‑level and low‑level cloud solutions and guide teams on best practices.
• Apply DevSecOps principles and collaborate with internal and external security auditors.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in CI/CD pipeline development.
• Strong background in cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Proven expertise with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools and scripting languages.
• Solid understanding of version control (Git) and branching strategies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with development teams and security auditors.
