Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

Sysco LABS, the global technology hub of the world’s largest foodservice company, is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, automate and maintain its AWS‑based production environments. The role involves ensuring high availability, performance, scalability and security of critical systems while supporting 24/7 operations.

Key responsibilities

• Research, evaluate and recommend DevOps tools across multiple technologies and development teams.
• Deploy, automate, maintain and manage AWS cloud‑based production systems.
• Build, release and configure production systems to support continuous uptime.
• Implement best‑in‑class cloud security solutions for critical systems.
• Coach development teams on DevOps practices and guide implementation.
• Collaborate in a cross‑functional Agile delivery environment.
• Participate throughout the software lifecycle from development and QA to deployment and post‑production support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of hands‑on DevOps experience.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Process‑oriented mindset adhering to engineering standards.

Required skills

• AWS cloud computing and AWS DevOps tools.
• Infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
• CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GoCD, GitHub.
• Monitoring and configuration tools: Nagios, Chef.
• Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS, AWS Fargate.
• Scripting/programming: Python, Groovy, Ruby (plus knowledge of Java, C#, Node.js, JavaScript is a plus).
