Senior Development Manager – PHP/Laravel & Google Cloud (Hybrid, Sri Lanka)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Development Manager to lead a distributed software development team focused on US healthcare solutions. The role combines hands‑on technical work with people and project management, ensuring high‑quality delivery on both IST and CST time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage offshore development teams, overseeing design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of web applications.
• Act as the technical point of contact for stakeholders, product owners and engineering teams.
• Drive architecture and technology decisions for scalable, secure applications.
• Participate in hands‑on coding, code reviews, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
• Establish and enforce best practices, coding standards and CI/CD processes.
• Manage project timelines, resource allocation, sprint planning and delivery commitments.
• Mentor and coach developers to improve technical skills and productivity.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define requirements and deliver business solutions.
• Monitor application performance, security and reliability in a cloud environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
• Proven experience managing distributed or offshore development teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• PHP and Laravel framework.
• Modern web frameworks and REST APIs.
• JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3.
• Front‑end frameworks such as React, Vue.js or Angular.
• MySQL, PostgreSQL or other relational databases, including design, optimisation and performance tuning.
• Google Cloud Platform services: Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage.
• CI/CD and DevOps practices, Git, Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes; infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred).
