Senior Credit Analyst – Team Lead – Financial Institutions

About the role
Fitch Ratings is looking for an experienced senior credit analyst to lead the Financial Institutions team in Colombo. The role combines deep sector knowledge of Sri Lankan banks, NBFIs, insurers and asset managers with strong analytical judgment and stakeholder engagement. You will help shape market views and contribute to Fitch’s credit ratings and research.
Key responsibilities
- Lead credit analysis of financial institutions, applying Fitch’s rating methodologies and local market dynamics.
- Prepare rating reports, issuer commentary, sector insights and thematic analysis for investors and regulators.
- Engage with senior management of rated entities, regulators and industry participants to gather insights and represent Fitch’s analytical views.
- Monitor sector and market developments, identifying emerging risks, trends and opportunities that may affect credit profiles.
- Present recommendations in rating committees, supporting transparent and timely rating decisions.
- Collaborate across teams to enhance the overall analytical franchise.
Required profile
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in credit analysis, banking, investment banking, regulation, asset management or consultancy.
- Strong understanding of Sri Lanka’s financial institutions and key credit drivers.
- Previous people‑management or team‑leadership experience (advantage).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Economics, Finance, Business Administration or related field; progress toward CFA is a plus.
- Demonstrated analytical capability to assess creditworthiness, evaluate macro‑financial risks and apply an international credit perspective.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present conclusions clearly to internal and external audiences.
