Semi-Senior Accountant – UK Clients

About the role

We are a fast-growing UK-based accounting firm expanding in Sri Lanka and looking for two Semi-Senior Accountants to serve our UK client portfolio. The role involves end-to-end bookkeeping, tax compliance and financial reporting while working UK business hours from our Colombo office.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of UK-based clients across various industries.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly bookkeeping in Xero.
• Handle accounts payable, supplier reconciliations and payment runs.
• Prepare management accounts and financial reports using Excel and Fathom.
• Maintain accurate double-entry bookkeeping, including accruals and pre-payments.
• Prepare and submit UK VAT returns on time.
• Assist with cash-flow forecasting and financial planning.
• Complete month-end close procedures, including reconciliations for VAT, PAYE, pensions and other statutory requirements.
• Support process improvements and accounting system optimisation for clients.
• Prepare and file UK personal tax returns and UK corporate tax returns.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Part-qualified ACCA or actively pursuing ACCA (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years experience in a UK accountancy firm or UK outsourcing environment.
• Hands-on experience with UK bookkeeping, VAT, personal and corporate tax filings.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently during UK business hours from Colombo.

What we offer

• Salary range LKR 70,000 – 250,000 per month, based on experience.
