Retail Manager – Supermarket Operations

About the role

The Retail Manager – Supermarket Operations will lead daily store activities, ensuring a high‑standard shopping environment and strong commercial performance across supermarket outlets. This role combines operational oversight, team leadership, and customer‑experience focus to drive revenue and maintain brand standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end floor operations, guaranteeing optimal presentation, cleanliness, and shelf availability.
• Drive store sales targets, monitor profitability, and implement strategies to increase footfall and basket size.
• Lead, mentor and schedule supervisors, department heads and frontline staff, fostering a customer‑first culture.
• Monitor inventory levels, shrink control, waste management and ensure product freshness.
• Maintain superior customer service, resolve grievances promptly, and ensure compliance with health, safety and food hygiene regulations.
• Ensure planogram compliance, manage promotional displays and pricing across all departments.
• Control operating expenses, manage shrinkage budgets, oversee cash processes and produce operational reports for senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Retail Management, Business Administration, Operations Management or related field.
• 5‑8 years of progressive operational leadership experience in modern trade supermarkets or hypermarkets.
• Deep understanding of supermarket department management, supply‑chain replenishment and shrinkage control.
• Proven track record in managing large retail teams, staff rostering and KPI execution.

Required skills

• Proficiency with retail POS systems.
• Experience using inventory management ERP software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel for reporting and turnover analysis.
