About the role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Project Assistant to support the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI) Unit in Sri Lanka. Working under the Chief of Mission and the National Programme Officer, you will help implement and monitor migration‑related projects.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.
- Retrieve, compile, summarise and present data on specific project topics.
- Monitor project budgets, verify fund availability, obtain approvals and update budget information.
- Coordinate administrative tasks, liaise with internal units and external partners, and process clearances.
- Draft status reports, identify delivery shortfalls and inform the supervisor.
- Prepare correspondence, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other documentation.
- Organise meetings, workshops and training sessions.
- Respond to general information requests and maintain project files and records.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field.
- Minimum two years of relevant professional experience.
