Procurement Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead strategic and operational purchasing activities for a manufacturing plant in Horana. The role involves ensuring timely material availability, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost optimisation within a fast‑paced production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Ensure timely availability of materials and services to support uninterrupted plant operations.
• Manage end‑to‑end procurement activities, including sourcing, purchasing, supplier negotiations, and delivery management.
• Build strong supplier relationships and improve quality, cost, and delivery performance.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline procurement processes and ensure timely vendor payments.
• Resolve supplier‑related issues such as quality concerns, rejected materials, and cost recovery.
• Maintain compliance with procurement policies, SOPs, ISO standards, and ethical sourcing practices.
• Drive cost optimisation, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
• Monitor procurement KPIs, prepare management reports, and lead the procurement team toward operational excellence.
• Oversee procurement activities related to CAPEX projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or a related discipline.
• 5–6 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
• Technical engineering background with hands‑on exposure to manufacturing operations (preferred).
• Strong negotiation, analytical, leadership, communication and supplier‑management abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and meet demanding operational targets.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA.
