Procurement Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Procurement Manager to lead strategic sourcing and supplier management for a leading manufacturing organisation in Colombo. The role will drive procurement strategies, optimise commercial value and support major engineering, capital and expansion projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Lead sourcing and procurement for CAPEX, engineering services, maintenance, facilities, utilities and project spend.
• Manage a portfolio of local and international suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality and reliability.
• Conduct commercial negotiations, contract discussions and supplier selection to mitigate risks and deliver value.
• Support manufacturing, engineering and capital investment projects from a procurement perspective.
• Identify cost‑saving, value‑engineering and process‑improvement opportunities.
• Establish supplier‑performance management frameworks and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Projects, Finance, Legal, Operations and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, governance, contractual obligations and standards.
• Monitor market conditions, supplier risks and commodity trends to inform sourcing strategies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic and indirect procurement, preferably in large‑scale manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong exposure to CAPEX, engineering services, maintenance, facilities, utilities and project procurement.
• Successful track record in strategic sourcing, supplier management and complex commercial negotiations.
• Experience managing both local and international suppliers.
• Deep understanding of contracts, commercial terms, procurement governance and supplier risk management.
• Excellent commercial judgement with ability to evaluate cost, quality, risk and long‑term value.
• Strong stakeholder‑management and influencing skills across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver initiatives within demanding project timelines.
