Mid-Level DevOps Engineer (Freelance/Contract)

About the role

We are looking for a mid-level DevOps Engineer to own our cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines for an AI-powered invoice processing platform. The role is fully remote and contract-based, focused on delivering reliable, observable and secure services across development, staging and production environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain AWS infrastructure (ECS/Fargate, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, EventBridge Scheduler).
• Build and manage container workflows, Docker image creation, and ECR deployments.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI and ensure smooth promotion across environments.
• Handle OAuth app registrations and API credentials in Google Cloud Console and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Operate LLM-backed and integration-heavy services, including background workers, queues and API rate-limit management.
• Implement observability, logging, metrics and alerting, and respond to incidents within defined windows.
• Write automation scripts in Python and Bash to support debugging and operational tasks.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE or platform engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services listed above.
• Proficiency with Docker, container registries and orchestration.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines and managing multi-environment configurations.
• Familiarity with OAuth, API credential management and security-first IAM practices.
• Ability to work remotely with overlap to UK afternoons.
