Manager – Technical Sales & Business Development (Yeast)

About the role

The client is a leading organization in the yeast, bakery ingredients and food ingredients sector, seeking a dynamic Manager – Technical Sales & Business Development (Yeast) to grow its yeast business across Sri Lanka. The role combines commercial drive with technical expertise to strengthen existing relationships, acquire new customers and support product application.

Key responsibilities

• Promote yeast products by understanding applications, technical benefits and market needs.
• Develop and maintain relationships with bakeries, industrial customers, distributors and wholesalers.
• Identify new business opportunities and expand the yeast portfolio nationwide.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct product demonstrations, trials and follow‑ups.
• Analyse customer production processes and recommend suitable yeast solutions.
• Monitor competitor activity, market trends and pricing.
• Maintain a robust sales pipeline, deliver market intelligence and forecasts.
• Collaborate with management to achieve sales volume, revenue, margin and distribution targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Biotechnology or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven technical sales and business development experience in the yeast sector; experience in bakery or food ingredients is a plus.
• Strong commercial mindset with the ability to build and nurture customer relationships.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of yeast products and their applications.
• Technical product support and troubleshooting.
• Ability to conduct product demonstrations and technical follow‑ups.
