Manager / Senior Engineer – HVAC Design & Project (Chillers, VRF, Precision AC)

About the role

We are seeking a Manager / Senior Engineer to lead our HVAC design and project team. The role combines technical design, project coordination, site supervision and client management across commercial, healthcare, hospitality and industrial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead detailed HVAC design, including sizing, layouts, equipment selection, ducting/piping and control strategies.
• Develop and review drawings, specifications, coordination drawings and technical submittals.
• Prepare technical calculations such as heat loads, psychrometrics and duct/pipe sizing, ensuring compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Produce and review BOQs and coordinate with quantity surveyors for tender and bid submissions.
• Manage project execution by coordinating procurement, installation teams, subcontractors and consultants while monitoring progress, quality and safety.
• Conduct site supervision, commissioning oversight and hand‑over activities, resolving technical issues promptly.
• Liaise with clients, architects, MEP consultants and regulatory authorities to ensure timely reporting and client satisfaction.
• Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement in design and delivery processes.
• Travel to sites island‑wide as required.

Required profile

• BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–8 years of HVAC/MEP experience with proven design and project management of chillers, VRF and precision AC systems.
• Strong competence in HVAC calculations, system selection and detailed drawing preparation.
• Experience managing medium to large projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills in Sinhala and English.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel island‑wide.
• Desirable: experience with government/BOI tenders, CIDA project processes and knowledge of energy‑efficiency best practices.
