Legal Officer – Corporate & Commercial Law

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Legal Officer to join our private consultancy focused on Sri Lankan real estate opportunities. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will support corporate and commercial legal matters across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Draft commercial legal agreements and review contractual documents.
• Assist the Head of Legal with corporate legal issues, board documentation, and policy development.
• Provide commercial legal support to all departmental projects and functions.
• Maintain and monitor legal files, records, and compliance documentation.
• Perform administrative secretarial duties as directed, including company secretarial and notary coordination.
• Ensure internal and external compliance with established guidelines, investigating any non‑compliance.
• Undertake any additional duties assigned by the Head of Legal.

Required profile

• Qualified Attorney‑at‑Law; a graduate degree in law is advantageous.
• Minimum three years of experience in corporate or commercial legal work.
• Knowledge of listing rules and corporate governance is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle company secretarial responsibilities and public notary matters.
• Solid understanding of general and specific company and commercial law.
• Excellent research ability and teamwork orientation.
