Legal Manager

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Legal Manager to oversee litigation, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage commercial contracts for our diversified group of businesses. The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external counsel to protect the organization’s legal and commercial interests.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage litigation matters across the Group and its strategic business units, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and statutory requirements, and keep stakeholders informed of legal developments.
• Manage, review, negotiate, and enforce commercial contracts to safeguard the Group’s interests.
• Prepare, execute, and enforce deeds and related legal documentation for the Group’s operations.
• Support Company Secretarial functions, ensuring adherence to corporate governance standards.
• Provide timely, practical legal advice to management and business units on operational and strategic matters.
• Undertake special assignments and strategic legal initiatives as directed by the Department Head.

Required profile

• Attorney-at-Law with 5–6 years of professional experience, preferably in commercial and contract law.
• Notary Public license in Sinhala and English within the Colombo Judicial Zone (advantageous).
• Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proven ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and meet strict deadlines.
• Experience maintaining secure and confidential legal documentation and databases.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a collaborative corporate mindset.
