Legal Manager

About the role

A leading Sri Lankan conglomerate is looking for an experienced Legal Manager to provide comprehensive legal support across the Group. The role focuses on commercial and corporate matters, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on day‑to‑day commercial and corporate issues.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, contracts and other legal documents.
• Manage legal documentation and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Handle notarization, attestation and execution of legal documents.
• Advise internal stakeholders on contractual obligations, legal risks and commercial matters.
• Identify potential legal and commercial risks in agreements.
• Liaise with external counsel, government authorities, notaries and other relevant parties.
• Support the business in resolving legal issues and disputes.
• Maintain proper records of legal agreements, documents and corporate matters.
• Provide timely legal guidance to management and internal departments.

Required profile

• Strong experience in Commercial Law (mandatory).
• Notary Public qualification and experience in notarization/attestation (mandatory).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Law or Attorney‑at‑Law qualification.
• Proven ability to draft, review and handle commercial agreements and legal documentation.
• Corporate legal experience and company secretarial exposure are advantageous.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple legal matters effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
