Legal Manager

About the role

The Legal Manager will serve as the primary internal legal authority for the Corporate Services division of a leading engineering and industrial solutions group in Sri Lanka. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the role combines strategic advisory, contract oversight, and regulatory compliance to protect the organization from legal risk.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and manage all contracts, tenders, and legal instruments related to business operations and government projects.
• Maintain a contract management system, track renewals, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
• Prepare case briefs, manage litigation, and coordinate dispute‑resolution activities to achieve favorable outcomes.
• Ensure full adherence to corporate laws, regulations, and statutory filing requirements.
• Provide timely legal counsel to internal departments and senior leadership, and conduct training to raise legal awareness.
• Represent the organization in court, liaise with external counsel, regulatory authorities, and government bodies.

Required profile

• Attorney‑at‑Law and Notary Public, licensed to practice in Sri Lanka.
• Minimum 5 years of corporate legal experience, including conveyancing, company secretarial duties, contract management, litigation support, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven track record handling legal frameworks, contracts, and regulatory processes for government and public‑sector projects.
• Strong knowledge of corporate law, contract law, court procedures, and dispute‑resolution mechanisms.
