Lead Software Engineer – FinTech (Hybrid, Colombo)

About the role

MB Tech is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to shape the architecture and delivery of its high‑impact fintech platforms. Working in a hybrid setting from Colombo, you will collaborate closely with US product, design and operations teams to build secure, scalable payment and subscription solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and evolve a full‑stack web platform using modern frontend (Vue.js, Nuxt) and backend (TypeScript/Node.js or Spring Boot/Java/Kotlin) technologies.
• Own architectural decisions across application, data and integration layers, balancing maintainability with delivery speed.
• Drive code quality through reviews, automated testing, standards and developer tooling.
• Partner with product, design, QA and operations to translate business goals into technical roadmaps.
• Design and optimise relational database schemas, queries and data access patterns for MySQL/MariaDB.
• Architect, scale and maintain secure integrations with payment providers and third‑party financial data services.
• Ensure high‑availability transactional workflows, real‑time ledger consistency, security and auditability.
• Lead CI/CD pipelines and cloud‑infrastructure deployment, working with the DevOps team.
• Promote responsible use of AI‑assisted development tools to boost productivity.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in senior fintech roles.
• Proven track record leading engineering teams and delivering complex full‑stack systems.
