Junior Legal Officer

About the role

The Junior Legal Officer will support Abans and its group companies by drafting, reviewing and managing a variety of legal documents. Working closely with the Head of Legal, the role ensures that commercial, lease, banking and intellectual property matters are handled efficiently and in compliance with local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and review commercial agreements, lease agreements and banking documents for Abans and its subsidiaries.
• Coordinate court cases with external counsel and provide status updates to the Head of Legal.
• Assist in managing trademarks and other intellectual‑property issues.
• Provide legal advice on business and labour‑law matters.
• Examine land titles, conduct conveyancing and handle deed‑related work.
• Attend company registrar activities and support company secretarial functions across the group.

Required profile

• Qualified Attorney‑at‑Law with 1–2 years of practical legal experience.
• Experience as a Company Secretary or Notary Public is an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Sinhala.
• Ability to work independently, maintain professionalism and pay close attention to detail.
