Junior Category Executive – Grocery

About the role

Lassana.com is seeking a Junior Category Executive to support its grocery category across e‑commerce and retail channels. The role offers hands‑on exposure to category management, merchandising, purchasing and inventory operations within a fast‑growing Sri Lankan conglomerate.

Key responsibilities

• Support strategies to drive category sales and expand the product range.
• Build and maintain strong supplier and vendor relationships.
• Monitor product availability and inventory levels to minimise out‑of‑stock and overstock situations.
• Conduct market and competitor research and assist pricing and promotional decisions.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth execution of category initiatives.
• Track short‑expiry and non‑moving products and implement timely promotions, markdowns or clearance activities.
• Gain hands‑on exposure to merchandising, purchasing, inventory and e‑commerce processes.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of experience in FMCG, e‑commerce, retail or a related industry.
• Degree in Management, Marketing, Supply Chain Management or a relevant professional qualification (CIM, SLIM, etc.).
• Proactive attitude with strong communication, negotiation and analytical abilities.
• Ability to manage priorities effectively and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications.
