Junior Attorney

About the role

INK Chambers is seeking a Junior Attorney to join its Colombo office on a full‑time, on‑site basis. The role offers hands‑on training in litigation and case management, working directly with senior counsel and a President’s Counsel on selected matters.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in civil, commercial, labour, arbitration, constitutional and administrative litigation.
• Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, written submissions and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare case briefs.
• Appear in court and support counsel during proceedings.
• Handle instructing work, including filing, registry tasks and case follow‑up.
• Prepare matters for consultations, inquiries, trials and arguments.
• Maintain case files, monitor court deadlines and use digital case‑management systems.

Required profile

• Qualified Attorney‑at‑Law of Sri Lanka.
• Strong desire to develop as a litigator and counsel.
• Willingness to attend and appear in court.
• Good legal research and drafting abilities or a clear commitment to develop them.
• Proficiency in Sinhala and working proficiency in English.
• Reliable, organised and able to work as part of a legal team.
• Interest in the digitalisation of legal practice.

• Computer literacy.
