Inventory Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Inventory Controller to oversee vehicle stock and inventory operations for a reputable automobile dealership in Colombo. The role involves managing the flow of vehicles from arrival to delivery, ensuring accurate records, and supporting pre‑delivery inspection processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of vehicle inventory, including stock in‑transit, yard stock, and vehicles ready for delivery.
• Coordinate with sales, logistics, and workshop teams to allocate vehicles and schedule deliveries.
• Track and reconcile vehicle stock against accounting and financial records.
• Support and coordinate Pre‑Delivery Inspection (PDI) processes for incoming vehicles.
• Update inventory databases and dealer management systems with current information.
• Liaise with vehicle agents and suppliers on stock movements and documentation.
• Prepare periodic inventory and stock status reports for management.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to inventory control.

Required profile

• Basic accounting knowledge.
• Prior experience in vehicle inventory management at a reputable dealership or agency.
• Age between 35 and 40 years.
• Valid Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence.
• Hands‑on experience with Pre‑Delivery Inspection (PDI) of vehicles.
• Basic qualification in Automobile Engineering/Technology (advantageous).
• Willingness to work long hours on‑site in Colombo.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with inventory management systems or dealer management software.
• Basic accounting skills.
• Knowledge of Pre‑Delivery Inspection (PDI) procedures.
