Intermediate Tax & Business Services Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an Intermediate Tax & Business Services Accountant to support Australian clients from our Sri Lanka office. The role involves preparing financial statements, tax returns, and providing advisory services for a range of entities, including SMEs and SMSFs.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and management reports for Australian clients across various industries.
• Prepare and review income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals and other entities.
• Handle financial and tax compliance work for SME groups in line with Australian tax requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of Self‑Managed Super Fund (SMSF) financial statements and tax returns.
• Perform account reconciliations, working paper preparation and year‑end reporting.
• Identify discrepancies, risks or compliance issues in client financial information.
• Support tax planning, business services and advisory engagements as needed.
• Maintain accurate client documentation and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in Australian taxation and business services accounting.
• CPA Australia or CA qualified (or part‑qualified).
• Strong experience preparing financial reports and tax returns for SME groups.
• Experience with SMSF financial statements and tax compliance.
• Good understanding of Australian taxation legislation and accounting standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
