Intermediate Accountant – Australian Tax & Accounting

About the role

Growth Prof is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to support Australian tax and accounting functions for its clients. The role involves managing financial records, processing payroll, and preparing various tax returns while working within a hybrid setup based in Colombo.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain financial records and process transactions.
• Process payroll and ensure compliance with Australian tax regulations.
• Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
• Prepare individual and company tax returns, including FBT and TPAR.
• Handle quarter‑end superannuation payments and perform year‑end and quarter‑end journal adjustments.
• Conduct BAS, ICA and ITA reconciliations and manage payroll processing.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities and contribute to ad‑hoc financial projects.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Accounting & Finance from a recognized university.
• Fully qualified AAT and progressing towards full qualification in ICA, CMA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA.
• 2‑3 years of accounting experience, preferably with audit exposure.
• Experience in Australian accounting and bookkeeping, ideally within a BPO environment.
• Strong analytical, multitasking and detail‑oriented abilities with a genuine interest in a long‑term Australian tax career.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Payroll processing and Australian tax compliance knowledge.
