Health and Safety Officer

About the role

The Health and Safety Officer will support the implementation of H&S policies and programmes at our Horana site. Working closely with the H&S Manager, the role involves inspections, training, incident follow‑up and record keeping to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of Health & Safety policies and safety programmes.
• Conduct workplace safety inspections and report hazards.
• Assist with safety training, toolbox talks and awareness activities.
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective‑action follow‑ups.
• Maintain HSE records, reports and compliance documentation.
• Assist with hazard identification, risk assessments and emergency preparedness.
• Support the H&S Manager in achieving safety objectives and promoting a strong safety culture.
• Monitor compliance with local OHS regulations.

Required profile

• Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Safety or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of OHS regulations, risk assessments and manufacturing safety practices.
• Ability to support inspections, audits, incident reporting and compliance activities.
• Good communication, documentation and teamwork skills.
• Able to work independently and contribute to a safe workplace.
• Strong attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with risk assessments and incident reporting processes.
• Familiarity with incident reporting software.
