Head of School

About the role

Good Dharma International School is seeking an experienced, visionary Head of School to lead its young, growing international community in southern Sri Lanka. The role combines strategic oversight of curriculum, culture and safety with hands‑on involvement in daily school life.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and champion the school’s educational vision from Early Years through Primary, ensuring high academic standards and the integration of the Oxford International Curriculum.
• Develop and embed the Good Dharma Approach to Education, supporting nature‑based, outdoor, inquiry‑led learning while maintaining strong academic foundations.
• Recruit, develop and retain excellent educators; oversee teacher training, professional development and safeguarding practices.
• Build a collaborative professional culture, manage policies, procedures, risk assessments and school systems, and represent the school in partnerships and community programmes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education (or related field) with a recognised teaching qualification.
• Significant early years and/or primary teaching experience and substantial educational leadership experience.
• Proven ability to lead people, maintain standards, develop culture and drive school improvement.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment, safeguarding, inclusion and student wellbeing.
