Head of Export & Trading

About the role

Pelwatte Dairy Group is looking for a senior commercial leader to drive its international export and trading activities. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Head of Export & Trading will own the Export & Trading P&L and be responsible for expanding the company’s presence in existing and new markets, as well as managing the Dubai Free Zone trading platform.

Key responsibilities

• Increase export volumes and revenues in current markets and enter at least two new markets within six months.
• Develop and scale local and international trading operations, identifying profitable opportunities across food, dairy, beverage, FMCG and commodity segments.
• Lead the Dubai Free Zone trading entity, using it as a hub for sourcing, regional distribution and re‑export activities while managing its P&L.
• Build and optimise distributor networks, manage distributor‑level P&Ls, and improve profitability across modern trade, wholesale, HoReCa, institutional, ethnic, online and B2B channels.
• Establish global sourcing networks, negotiate with suppliers, and create third‑party manufacturing partnerships to reduce supply risk.
• Ensure strong governance, compliance and working‑capital discipline while delivering profitable growth.

Required profile

• Proven senior experience in export sales, international trade or commodity trading, preferably in the food and dairy sector.
• Demonstrated ability to own and grow a P&L with a focus on revenue, margin and market share.
• Strong commercial negotiation skills and experience building supplier and distributor relationships across multiple regions.
• Track record of launching new markets and managing cross‑border operations.
• Excellent governance and compliance mindset with disciplined financial management.
