General Manager Logistics

About the role

The General Manager Logistics will steer the long‑term strategic planning and growth initiatives for Abans’ logistics division. Reporting to senior leadership, the role combines operational oversight with profit‑driven performance management to ensure the business meets its financial and service targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning, growth initiatives and operational strategies to drive profitability and performance.
• Oversee daily business operations, aligning activities with business goals and adjusting tactics as needed.
• Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring efficient resource use within financial limits.
• Continuously improve service quality, productivity and margins while reducing operational costs.
• Measure, evaluate and enhance the efficiency of operational processes and implement improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, legal and client‑specific standards across all operations.
• Foster a customer‑centric environment by understanding and responding to client needs.
• Lead digitisation efforts, leveraging technology to improve operations and customer engagement.
• Mentor staff, promote a culture of accountability, high performance and continuous learning.
• Provide timely operational reports and represent the company with clients and partners.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of overall experience with at least 6 years in a senior logistics or freight‑forwarding role.
• Degree in any field plus an MBA; logistics‑related qualifications are an advantage.
• Proven ability to think strategically, influence stakeholders and operate independently.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills, with a track record of building high‑performing teams.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, high integrity and the capacity to handle challenging situations.
