General Manager – Logistics

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned General Manager to lead our Logistics division, driving strategic growth and operational excellence across the organization. The role combines high‑level planning with hands‑on management to ensure profitability, customer satisfaction and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute long‑term strategic plans, growth initiatives and operational strategies to enhance profitability.
• Oversee daily logistics operations, aligning activities with business objectives and adjusting processes as needed.
• Prepare and manage operational budgets, ensuring efficient resource utilization within financial limits.
• Identify and implement improvements to service quality, productivity, margins and cost reduction.
• Measure, evaluate and continuously improve the efficiency of operational processes.
• Foster a customer‑centric culture by understanding and responding to client needs.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, legal and client‑specific standards.
• Develop, enforce and monitor company policies, promoting ethical practices and robust control systems.
• Lead, mentor and develop teams, promoting accountability, high performance and continuous learning.
• Attract, retain and develop top talent, manage succession planning and oversee training and performance evaluations.
• Provide accurate operational reports and represent the company with clients and partners.
• Drive digitisation efforts, leveraging technology to improve operations, customer engagement and online presence.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of overall experience with at least 6 years in a senior logistics, shipping, freight forwarding, 3PL or container freight station role.
• University degree in any field plus an MBA; logistics‑related academic qualifications are a distinct advantage.
• Professional certifications in transport, logistics, finance or marketing are desirable.
• Strategic thinker and influencer capable of working independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, guide and build relationships.
• Resilient, adaptable and able to handle challenging situations with integrity.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and high degree of honesty.
