Freight Procurement Specialist

About the role

A leading company in the freight forwarding & logistics industry is seeking an experienced professional to support procurement strategy and global agent network development. This key role within commercial operations is responsible for securing competitive and sustainable freight solutions for customers across global trade lanes.

Key responsibilities

• Source and negotiate competitive Sea & Air Freight rates for imports, exports and cross‑trade shipments.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, airlines, NVOCCs, consolidators and overseas agents.
• Manage daily RFQs and provide timely, commercially viable freight solutions.
• Negotiate spot rates, contract rates and project‑specific freight solutions.
• Continuously monitor freight markets, capacity, surcharges and market movements.
• Compare and evaluate supplier quotations to ensure the best combination of price, service and reliability.
• Build and maintain a reliable database of freight rates and trade lane benchmarks.
• Work closely with Sales and Operations teams to develop competitive customer quotations.
• Identify alternative carriers, routings and consolidation options where required.
• Support the development of strategic carrier and supplier partnerships.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years’ experience in freight forwarding, shipping or logistics procurement.
• Degree or Diploma in procurement, logistics, supply chain, business management or related field.
• Strong knowledge of international Sea & Air Freight markets.
• Proven ability to negotiate freight rates and commercial terms.
• Good understanding of FCL, LCL, air freight and cross‑trade movements.
• Strong analytical and commercial mindset.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple RFQs with tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
