Founding Accountant in Residence – Financial Controller & Practice Lead

About the role

LedgerPro is building an AI‑first accounting platform and needs a senior accountant to run its own books on the product. As the Founding Accountant in Residence you will act as the financial controller and practice lead, ensuring that every workflow meets the standards of a real accounting practice.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and close the company’s ledgers, bank reconciliations and financial statements using LedgerPro.
• Test and break the platform’s accounting features (journal entries, invoices, tax rates) to validate accuracy and compliance.
• Document and communicate required fixes to engineering, providing double‑entry examples and report analyses.
• Develop and refine internal accounting processes and practice‑management tools.
• Mentor engineers and junior staff on accounting concepts such as suspense accounts and reconciliation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience closing books for accounting firms, with a strong eye for even one‑cent variances.
• Hands‑on familiarity with major accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, MYOB).
• Proactive attitude toward identifying and correcting software‑driven errors.
• Ability to explain accounting issues clearly and propose concrete double‑entry solutions.
• Comfort working closely with product engineers in a fast‑moving startup environment.
