Forensic Analyst – Financial Forensics & Investment Research

About the role

The Forensic Analyst will support institutional clients by examining company financials and public disclosures to uncover irregularities. This role blends investment research with forensic analysis, offering a unique opportunity to influence investment decisions through rigorous financial scrutiny.

Key responsibilities

• Support institutional clients in performing forensic analysis of company financials and public disclosures.
• Conduct extensive analytical reviews of reported figures to identify anomalies and assess their impact.
• Review annual reports and other publicly available financial information to pinpoint material issues.
• Focus on accounting irregularities, aggressive accounting practices, earnings quality issues, and balance‑sheet risks.
• Research companies, management teams, promoters, and related parties in depth.
• Interpret identified issues and evaluate their effect on performance, financial position, and cash flows.
• Prepare concise, exception‑based reports summarising findings and conclusions.
• Discuss findings with clients and provide inputs to support engagement with investor‑relations teams of target companies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a Member/Passed Finalist of CA Sri Lanka or ACCA.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in statutory audits or financial advisory, preferably with a Big Four firm.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Advanced analytical, accounting and quantitative abilities with sound conceptual thinking.
• Ability to work independently and as an effective team player.
• Exceptional attention to detail and capacity to meet tight deadlines.
• Willingness to learn and adapt across diverse investment‑research workflows.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
• Familiarity with AI tools and large language model (LLM) applications for analytical tasks.
