Executive – Health, Safety & Environment

About the role

Join Cargills Food & Beverage as an Executive – Health, Safety & Environment, leading the development and implementation of safety and environmental policies at our Katana manufacturing site. You will ensure compliance with legislation, drive risk‑assessment programmes and promote a culture of safety across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare site safety policies and set clear safety objectives.
• Ensure full compliance with government legislation and company standards for health, safety and environment.
• Coordinate risk‑assessment studies such as Task Hazard Analysis (THA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and HAZOP, and implement control measures.
• Organise and chair SHE meetings to address site safety concerns.
• Conduct safety and environmental induction training for new managers and employees.
• Plan and execute safety and environmental awareness activities for staff.
• Investigate accidents, damage and near‑miss incidents and enforce corrective actions.
• Analyse accident data, identify trends and report statistics to senior management.
• Inspect and maintain emergency equipment, PPE and safety tools.
• Maintain the site SHE documentation library and implement an ISO 14001‑aligned Environmental Management System.
• Provide feedback to management on employee health, safety and welfare requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Administration, Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
• Certificate or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (mandatory); environmental studies diploma is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role within Food & Beverage, Manufacturing or FMCG.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety practices, HR and labour laws in Sri Lanka.
• Excellent communication skills and proficiency in MS Office / Microsoft 365.
• Willingness to work onsite at Katana and travel to other locations as required.
