Earthworks Foreman

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Earthworks Foreman to lead daily earth‑moving operations on construction, mining or civil engineering projects. The role involves supervising crews, managing equipment, ensuring quality, safety and adherence to drawings and schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise site clearing, bulk excavation, cut‑to‑fill, embankment construction, trenching, road formation and drainage works.
• Plan and allocate labour, plant and materials to meet daily and weekly production targets.
• Coordinate excavation, hauling, spreading, watering, grading and compaction activities.
• Monitor equipment utilisation, conduct daily inspections and report defects.
• Ensure works are executed to required lines, levels, grades, slopes and tolerances.
• Identify and resolve site constraints affecting productivity or programme.

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in Civil Engineering, Construction, Earthworks or related field.
• 10+ years of practical earthworks experience, including supervision of large earthmoving crews.
• Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Strong knowledge of excavation, cut‑and‑fill, embankments, trenching, road formation, drainage and compaction.

Required skills

• Operation and management of excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, rollers, water bowsers and dump trucks.
• Equipment inspection and maintenance coordination.
• Fuel consumption monitoring and plant optimisation.
• Construction drawing interpretation.
