Deputy Chief Marketing Officer

About the role

Vella Group, a diversified Sri Lankan conglomerate operating in leisure, adventure and tea, is seeking a Deputy Chief Marketing Officer to steer the Group’s marketing agenda. This senior leadership position works directly with Business Line Heads to shape and execute brand and growth strategies across multiple businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and drive Group‑wide and business‑specific marketing strategies.
• Strengthen brand positioning and equity across the Group’s portfolio.
• Lead digital marketing, customer acquisition, online sales and innovative initiatives.
• Identify cross‑business marketing and revenue opportunities.
• Partner with Business Line Heads to translate objectives into impactful marketing plans.
• Lead, mentor and set performance standards for marketing teams.
• Analyse ROI, customer insights and market trends to inform decisions.
• Manage marketing budgets with strong commercial discipline.
• Present strategic insights and recommendations to the Board.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of marketing experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Mandatory experience in Leisure/Hospitality, Adventure Tourism, or Tea/FMCG.
• Proven track record in brand management, digital marketing, content, PR and customer acquisition.
• Strong analytical and strategic capabilities with a commercial focus.
• Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field; MBA/Master’s preferred.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
