Data Analysis & Research Intern

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Data Analysis & Research Intern to join our Business Development team in Colombo. You will help build data pipelines, support data modelling, and conduct competitive market research to feed our marketing intelligence dashboard.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines that consolidate commercial, digital, and freight data into a centralised marketing intelligence dashboard.
• Support the development of structured data models by integrating CRM, trade lane, and digital analytics data.
• Identify data quality issues and design automated validation checks to ensure data integrity.
• Conduct structured competitive research on competitor marketing activities, content, and search visibility across key freight verticals.
• Monitor market conditions across assigned trade lanes, including port disruptions, regulatory changes, and geopolitical developments, and prepare intelligence briefings for the content team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or currently completing a degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Supply Chain, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Programming experience in at least one language, preferably Python, for data manipulation and automation.
• Fundamental understanding of databases and SQL with ability to write basic queries for data extraction, filtering, and aggregation.
• Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Automate, SharePoint, and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication, presentation skills, and excellent attention to detail.
