Data & AI Consultant

About the role

Fortude is looking for a talented, self‑driven Consultant who has a passion for data to join our dynamic analytics team. You will be involved in the design, development and implementation of data engineering solutions that feed into the analytics solutions we provide our customers across multiple geographies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable end‑to‑end data pipelines integrating multiple source systems into modern data platforms.
• Curate data across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, traceability, and alignment with business requirements.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of data warehouses and lakehouses, including data integration, orchestration, dimensional models, and analytical data assets.
• Build and optimise data transformations using SQL, Spark SQL, PySpark, and related engineering frameworks.
• Develop semantic models and analytics‑ready datasets in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI to enable efficient reporting and self‑service analytics.
• Apply data quality, governance, security, validation, and reconciliation controls across data pipelines and curated assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant post‑qualification experience in Data Engineering.
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Enterprise Data Analyst Associate, Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Databricks Lakehouse Data Engineer Associate, Fabric Data Engineer Associate, or Azure Databricks Data Engineer Associate.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL expertise with complex query optimisation and performance tuning.
• Hands‑on experience with Spark SQL and PySpark for distributed data processing.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks, dimensional modelling, medallion architecture and modern data warehousing/lakehouse concepts.
• Practical experience designing, developing and maintaining data pipelines using Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics or similar platforms.
• Working knowledge of Power BI and DAX, with an understanding of end‑to‑end BI and analytics solution delivery.
