Consultant (Migration Health Physician - On call)

About the role

The Migration Health Physician Consultant will support the Migration Health Division in Colombo, working under the Chief Migration Health Officer and Senior Migration Health Physician. The role involves clinical assessments, TB and STI treatment, immunisation programmes, and ensuring quality health services for refugees and migrants.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure efficient daily operations of the Migration Health Division.
• Conduct comprehensive migration health assessments, including medical examinations, imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, treatment referrals and pre‑departure procedures.
• Identify refugees and migrants, record health information accurately, and maintain documentation for resettlement countries.
• Treat TB and sexually transmitted infections, support HIV counselling, and oversee TB case management.
• Oversee immunisation and presumptive treatment programmes in line with technical guidelines.
• Assist the CMHO in monitoring, supervising and training staff, and drive quality‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Medical degree with a valid license to practice in Sri Lanka and at least four years of professional experience, including recent clinical posting within the last three years.
• Strong clinical knowledge, bedside manner, patient safety and infection‑prevention expertise; specialization in pediatrics, pulmonology, emergency or internal medicine is an advantage.
• Fluency in English and Sinhala or Tamil (oral and written); organizational and communication skills are essential.
