Consultant (Migration Health Physician - On call)

About the role

The Consultant (Migration Health Physician – On call) will support the Migration Health Division (MHD) in Colombo, Sri Lanka, under the supervision of the Chief Migration Health Officer and the Senior Migration Health Physician. The role focuses on delivering comprehensive health assessments for refugees and migrants in line with the technical requirements of resettlement countries.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily operations of the MHD and ensure efficient service delivery.
• Conduct migration health assessments covering medical examinations, imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, and pre‑departure procedures.
• Identify and record health information for refugees and migrants using standard forms, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Treat tuberculosis and sexually transmitted infections; support HIV counselling activities.
• Oversee TB case management to ensure effective treatment outcomes.
• Implement immunisation and presumptive treatment programmes in compliance with resettlement‑country guidelines.
• Assist the CMHO in monitoring, supervising and educating staff on programme delivery.
• Maintain and improve quality systems for each service area within the MHD.
