Chef – Italian Cuisine Specialist

About the role

Smeralda Properties PVT LTD is seeking a full‑time Chef to lead the kitchen of its boutique Italian restaurant in Dikwella, Sri Lanka. The role focuses on preparing authentic Italian dishes, managing daily kitchen operations, and ensuring a high standard of food quality and guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, cook, plate and control portions of authentic Italian menu items.
• Maintain hygiene and safety standards in compliance with health regulations.
• Manage inventory, order ingredients and control food costs.
• Collaborate with management on menu development, daily specials and cost optimisation.
• Train, guide and motivate kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflows.
• Coordinate with front‑of‑house teams to deliver timely service.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Chef or Senior Cook, preferably in boutique hotel or restaurant settings.
• Relevant culinary education or professional training.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
• Basic English communication skills; knowledge of Italian language or cuisine culture is a plus.
