Chef / Experienced Cook for Social Enterprise in Mannar

About the role

We are seeking an experienced chef or cook to join our social‑enterprise kitchens in Mannar, Sri Lanka. You will work directly with local women who already prepare basic Sri Lankan dishes and help them broaden their culinary repertoire, improve food safety, and increase production efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Train and mentor women cooks in preparing a wider variety of dishes, including those suited for larger groups and tourist tastes.
• Introduce and enforce safe food preparation and handling practices.
• Assist the restaurant manager with stock management, purchasing, and basic financial reporting.
• Develop menus that balance taste, nutrition, and local ingredient availability.
• Support scaling up kitchen operations to achieve professional efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience working as a chef in a commercial kitchen.
• Ability to teach and motivate staff with empathy and creativity.
• Understanding of local and tourist food preferences.
• Willingness to work in a social‑impact environment.
