Business Development Specialist

About the role

We are hiring a Business Development Specialist on behalf of a client, a globally recognized manufacturer of power tools and related equipment. This fully remote, customer‑facing sales role focuses on developing business opportunities, maintaining relationships and supporting customers across Sri Lanka, with travel to customer sites as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities across Sri Lanka.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
• Conduct regular customer visits and provide face‑to‑face sales support.
• Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
• Present and demonstrate products to customers when required.
• Follow up on leads, inquiries, quotations and potential sales opportunities.
• Resolve customer questions and issues promptly and professionally.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure customer needs are properly addressed.
• Monitor customer feedback, market developments and competitor activity.
• Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales activities and opportunities.

Required profile

• 2+ years of sales or business development experience, preferably in hardware or power tools.
• Experience in field/on‑site sales and regular customer visits.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with business‑level English.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
• Own reliable transportation (motorcycle or car) for product delivery during visits.
• Willingness to travel within Colombo, other parts of Sri Lanka and occasionally to Singapore.
• Valid passport (company may cover passport costs where eligible).
