About the role
STEMIT is seeking a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Specialist to support the Asian Development Bank feasibility study for the Sri Lanka Wind Power project. The position is contract‑based, based in Mannar with a hybrid work arrangement.
Key responsibilities
- Support technical design and configuration of utility‑scale BESS (≥50 MWh) and model energy flows.
- Analyze storage performance, optimize system operation, and develop grid‑interaction strategies.
- Prepare technical documentation and ensure compliance with standards and safety practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams throughout the feasibility study.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years experience in the IPP sector, including at least 2 years designing and operating ≥50 MWh battery storage systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, energy, power systems engineering or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated experience in Asian or comparable markets and ability to travel for on‑site feasibility work in Mannar.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating system performance, energy flows, and operational scenarios.
